Places to Visit for Every Single Woman

Traveling alone can be a very liberating and therapeutic experience for the single woman. Traveling alone can be an incredible opportunity for self discovery and personal growth. In the past years, women were afraid of traveling due to safety issues or just the plain old fear of loneliness. However, in recent years more and more women are taking the plunge and going to new destinations alone for business or pleasure. We’ve compiled a list of places to visit on that solo venture that we believe are a must for every single woman.

Marrakech – Morocco

Marrakech is a beautiful city full of colour and bursting with Arabic culture and history as well as stunning marketplaces. This Western Moroccan city is a great holiday destination and becoming increasingly popular for the sights, cuisine and culture. As a single female traveler, you will enjoy many wonderful day and night sightseeings around the city. During the day, you can enjoy one of the most popular trips to the Ouzoud Waterfalls in the Atlas mountains. You can spend the day hiking and plunging off waterfalls into the crisp, cool water below.

Another option is taking an overnight, or two-night, excursion to the Sahara desert where you can enjoy a ride on a camel’s back, sleep beneath the stars, and be blown away by the beauty of the surrounding dunes. Make sure not to skip a trip into the Oukira Valley where you can watch the landscapes changing from brown deserts to a green oasis in just a few hours.

Taipei – Taiwan

Notable for people traveling alone, Taipei has public transportation that is very easy to navigate thus making it a great holiday destination for single female travelers. The Mass Rapid Transit runs throughout the city and directions are very clearly marked in both Chinese and English. In addition to the convenience, the MRT is also extremely safe. Each station features blue safety waiting zones that have extra surveillance, making them a secure spot for those traveling by themselves or late at night. The extra safety features of Taipei’s public transportation system contribute to it being ranked the 13th safest city in the world by The Economist’s Safe City Index in 2015. So throw your fears out the window about traveling to this Taiwanese City alone (even though of course you should still rely on your common sense to stay safe as in any other city in the world).

Of the many places to visit in Taipei, you’ll definitely want to visit the National Palace Museum as well as Elephant Mountain, where you can enjoy the view of the stunning city. You will probably eat a great deal in Taipei, as food is relatively cheap and you can snack each day away by hitting up the many street vendors around the capital city. You can also dine on a variety of world-class international cuisine, and of course sample plenty of local treats.

Norway’s – Fjords

Norway is a land of huge contrast with a diverse and breathtaking landscape. Famous for its sheer-sided fjords, picturesque villages, thick forests and rolling valleys, this country is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Take a Norway in a Nutshell tour to experience the best of the Norwegian fjords. The daylong tour costs around £120 per person and involves three trains, a coach, and a boat, and takes you through some of Norway’s most beautiful and breathtaking scenery.

You start with the Bergen Railway to Voss then travel by coach on the old Bergen-to-Oslo road and down the spectacular Stalheimskleiva Road (with its dozen or so hairpin bends) to Gudvangen at the head of the Naerøyfjord. A boat then takes you up the Naerøyfjord (one of the narrowest fjords in Norway) and then down the Aurlandsfjord to Flåm. From Flåm you take the Flåmsbana railway up the mountain to Myrdal. The 12-mile journey takes an hour and rises over 2,625ft. Finally, you take the express train from Myrdal back to Bergen. Overall, an incredible day.

Prague – Czech Republic

Not one of the most popular European cities but definitely one of the most beautiful; Prague is a gem you need to discover. This fairytale city with its bohemian allure makes it a perfect destination for those who want to immerse themselves in culture. The Prazsky Hrad (Prague Castle) is definitely a must see and you can enjoy a walk around the Old Town Square exploring the Old Town Hall and being blown away by the Astronomical Clock as well.

Compared to its neighbors, Prague is also relatively inexpensive, a major traveling plus. The metro and train system is easy to use, even though it stops running at midnight. Prague also boasts some of the best beer in Europe and a relaxed drinking culture, so be sure to test out the wide range of pubs.

London – United Kingdom

2015’s  world’s most popular travel destination – London is undeniably one of the best cities in the world to visit as a single lady. Just like many capital cities, London is bursting with life and has a great social scene that a lot of singles would enjoy. Of course, a trip to the great British city wouldn’t be complete without seeing its top attractions, which include the London Eye and the historic Tower of London to name just a few. You could also soak up some culture at London’s many museums, visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace, or take the perfect picture in front of the Big Ben.

To get an excellent view of the city, rise high above London to The Shard’s observation deck and see the iconic skyline with views stretching up to 40 miles (64km). From here you’ll be able to get an amazing view of the likes of the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral and Wembley Stadium. The Shard itself stands at 800ft (244m) up, making it Western Europe’s tallest building.

Ko Phi Phi – Thailand

Ko Phi Phi, also known as Phi Phi Island, is one of the most beautiful and talked about places in Southeast Asia. A captivating sign full of natural beauty and a reputation for good times, Ko Phi Phi is definitely a perfect destination for single ladies looking for a tropical island getaway.

The beauty of the island is unparalleled, and you will enjoy the breathtaking views of Limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, white sand beaches and miles of trackless forest.

New York City – United States Of America

It doesn’t come as a surprise that the city that never sleeps is one of the most visited destinations in the world. Home to some of the most iconic sights on the planet including the Empire State building and Statue of Liberty and renowned for its assortment of dining options, and lavish fashion stores, New York is thriving with singles and is a great place for single women to meet new people and socialize.

In New York, you never will run out of things to do or new places to see. Even once you’ve visited all the main attractions, there will always be more independent galleries to explore, unknown streets to walk, bars to drink in and restaurants in which to enjoy meals from.

Hopefully these places will inspire you to buy that ticket and go on a single woman trip filled with sightseeing, fun and self discovery.
