At THEN AND NOW Shop we have teamed with the Russian Fashion Council and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia to offer a platform for young Russian brands and designers to showcase their designs.
Thanks to the British Fashion Council, during London Fashion Week 2017 the talented designers involved were offered the opportunity to present their works at a London-based exhibition. The event located at Somerset House took place in accordance with the yearly International Fashion Showcase (IFS). Russian brands Artem Shumov, Lumier Garson, ZA_ZA, and Saint-Tokyo were the first participants from Russia to exhibit in the event.
The annual IFS project is a major platform as part of London Fashion Week. The event plays a key role in giving young fashion designers the ability to share their works of fashion and contemporary art. The theme of the showcase was LOCAL/GLOBAL, where each country involved communicated the influence that their local traditions have on their fashion trends. With the ability to transform their local cultures into a global language, the designers materialised their visions into fashion creations.
Within the installation, the Russian designers ventured through time and traditions, displaying their reinterpretations of traditional Russian crafting techniques. Through the appreciation of traditional art combined with the modern day, the designers brought forward the spirit of their culture for generations to come.
Following the London Fashion Week exhibition, the designers will present their capsule collections during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. The forthcoming season looks will be shown at the Central Exhibition Hall Manege, as part of the International Fashion Council, on March 12 to 17, 2017.
The pieces presented at the IFS are available to purchase immediately at THEN AND NOW Shop.
