Fashion is fighting back against Donald Trump, the new president of the United States of America. As part of his new presidency, he has implemented a ban against immigration. The executive order aims to prevent people from seven Muslim-majority countries from immigrating into America.
In a stand against this policy, 81 of the best-known faces in fashion came together in a moving video for W magazine to show the great contributions these so-called immigrants have made to the United States.
Models, fashion designers, stylists, editors, photographers and activists including Grace Coddington, Doutzen Kroes, Winnie Harlow, Anja Rubik and Mario Sorrenti each looked directly into the camera and defiantly stated, “I am an immigrant.”
Each fashion celebrity in the powerful film is from a different background, has a different appearance, and speaks a different language. Through this, they made the point that in spite of their differences, they all stand united in opposing the severe attitude towards immigration.
The video powerfully concluded with renowned fashion designer Diane Von Furstenburg announcing, “I am an immigrant. America was very good to me.”
