All of us have many fashion influencers in our lives, from our family and friends to models, actresses, fashion journalists, the list goes on. We decided to compile a list of who we think you should be following if you’re not already. This edition includes the UK, Italy and Russia.
Fashion Influencers – United Kingdom
With her infamous eyebrows, Cara Delevigne rose to fame as a quirky model. She has become an icon because of her humour and apparent relatability in interviews. Having modelled for Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and Jason Wu, this 24 year old is very much in demand with designers. With 33.2 million followers on Instagram, she’s also adored by the public. She won ‘Model of the Year’ in 2012 and 2014 and even landed the lead role in the film “Paper Towns. Delevigne is constantly in the public eye and everyone wants to know what this model is wearing. It’s a good thing she always looks amazing.
The Duchess of Cambridge
Since marrying into the Royal Family, the Duchess of Cambridge has remained a symbol of class and elegance. Wherever she goes, the press follow with only one question – what is she wearing? She has never disappointed, wherever she is, whatever she’s doing, she always has poise and she always wears the right thing. She became one of our fashion influencers almost as soon as she came into the public eye because she is so classically stylish. Although we can’t all have Ladies in Waiting, we can all take inspiration from Kate’s grace.
Emma Watson made her fame in Harry Potter as a head strong, book smart witch. However, it wasn’t until after ’19 Years Later’ we saw Watson for what she could really do. Her degree from Brown University and her campaigns with ‘he for she’ shattered her ‘half-blood Hermione’ reputation and displayed her as a conscientious female icon. Being in the spotlight, she maintains her decorum and this is represented in the clothes she wears. She always dresses with dignity and she is a role model for all women.
Alexa Chung; model come presenter come editor at Vogue, a woman of importance when it comes to fashion. Her word is gospel and mainly goes along the line of dungarees. When she says something is in, it’s in, no question. She’s even launching her own fashion brand in May 2017 so you can get her look. Her aim with this brand is “not only to delight your eyeballs but to furnish your wardrobe with all of your soon-to-be favourite pieces.” We all know whatever she brings us, we’ll love it.
Emilia Clarke shot to fame for her role as mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and became loved for her charming nature off screen. In her recent film, Me Before You, Clarke played Louisa Clark – an eccentric dresser with a heart of gold – she portrayed the role with ease. These roles have made Clarke a fashion inspiration with everyone wanting to dress like her and effortlessly emulate her quirky style and character.
Fashion Influencers – Italy
Margareth Madè (not using her actual last name, Maccarrone, as it has too many affiliations with pasta) is an Italian model and actress with 11.9k followers on Instagram. She has done fashion shows such as ‘donna sotto le stele’ – the closing fashion show in Rome Fashion Week. She has also taken part in numerous international fashion shows and has made a good name for herself in Italy. Her style is classic and elegant which is why she is one of our favourite Italian influencers.
Chiara Ferragni is a blogger and fashion designer, published author and spokesperson/model for Guess. A lot to accomplish for a girl of 29. She has won various blogger of the year awards, her most recent one in 2015. Pantene have named her their global ambassador and she has been on the cover of many magazines such as Spanish Vogue. She has her own collection and 6.5 million followers on Instagram. Everyone seems to want to know what she’s wearing and what she has to say about it.
Eleanora Carisi is the founder of the blogs Jou Jou Villeroy and Grumble Creative which both write extensively about fashion. She is represented by Next Management – one of the most successful modelling agencies in the world, and with 549 thousand followers on Instagram, this girl is one to watch in the fashion world.
Marta Pozzan is a blogger, actress and model (also represented by Next Management). Although maybe not as successful as the likes of Ferragni or Carisi, she is on the rise with 76.1 thousand followers on Instagram and the label of LA’s next style star.
Candela Novembre is another model represented by Next Management, she is one of Grazia’s ‘IT’ girls and a blogger for Red Milk. In addition, she is followed by 419 thousand people on Instagram. Her style is unique and individual making her popular in the fashion world.
Fashion Influencers – Russia
Natasha Goldenberg was a journalist at Russian Grazia and now is the current director for Kova & T. She has her own fashion line called Tzipporah, which is available for the general market and so her pieces are both wearable and affordable. Her own fashion sense is rather eccentric and bold as she tends to mix accessories and is a big fan of vests and headbands. Her uniqueness undoubtedly makes her stand out as a fashion influencer.
Sasha Pivovarova is a model and actress. She is the longest appearing model for Prada and as of this year has completed 19 campaigns with them. Michael Kors has worked with her and she is represented by IMG Models, Donna Models and Unique Models. Most recently, she was on the cover of Italian Vogue in June, making her an internationally renowned model and fashion icon. Her striking blue eyes and golden hair make her really stand out and her success in the fashion world is overwhelming.
Anya Ziourova has been nominated one of BoF’s 500 people shaping the global fashion world. She is a stylist for both Russian and Chinese Vogue and what she says goes. She has helped to launch Tatler and Allure in Russia and continues to freelance across multiple international versions of Vogue. As a fashion director, she sets the season’s key trends and themes and therefore is one of the biggest influencers in fashion in Russia.
Sonya Esman is a blogger, model and actress. Viviènne Model Management represent her and she is a contributer to Conde Nast’s Canadian platform Fashionation TV. She is also the global fashion ambassador for Skype. Her style is colourful, with gilets and boots being a staple. Her life and style are followed by 1.7 million people on Instagram and she has over 300,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Natalia Vodianova is a model, philanthropist and actress. She is most renowned for doing eight seasons as a model for Calvin Klein. Vodianova has also worked for Diane Von Furstenberg, Prada, Chanel and Gucci. She has appeared on the cover of every major international magazine. For the Sochi 2014 Winter Games she designated the ambassador. Tatler have even named her on their top 10 best dressed list. This makes her undeniably one of the biggest Russian fashion influencers.
