It isn’t very ordinary when a New York University, School of Law graduate, and an internationally proclaimed human rights lawyer steals the limelight on the red carpet. Amal Alamuddin, better known as Amal Clooney, has rarely strayed far from the attention of style commentators. No doubt that this recognition and reputation came with the wedding to her spouse George Clooney. Although she became universally known after her marriage, she has previously done notable work as a lawyer in the field of women empowerment and anti-terrorism. The thirty-nine year-old is unquestionably among those dynamic women who dextrously manage to run a triumphant career and a family. Seen alongside the luminary actor, she has consistently displayed her adroit sense of style. After giving birth to genetically perfect twins this June, she is back on the media radar.
Head to toe Black
Top to toe black has always been the bigwig go-to look for chilly evenings. Celebrities are often seen dressing identically to their partners, and the Clooneys too joined this game in Paris. While George was draped head to toe in a coal black suit, Amal Alamuddin was not far off in a full sleeve dress. She added a cosy element with the fur trim and floral stripes on her Giambattista Valli overlay, which helped draw the attention towards her. To add to the look, she wore knee high Gladiator boots over the dark sheer stockings. Similar styling can be done with a plain coloured top and a heavy Bib or Plastron necklace.
Head to toe Pink
We have seen Amal style the all black look, but she can turn really girlish too and do all pink. Head to toe pink reminds us of Elle Woods, the main character in The Legally Blonde movies played by Reese Witherspoon. Coincidentally, Witherspoon plays a law student turned professional attorney. Well, Amal too made pink seem effortless and elegant, as Elle Woods does. After delivering a compelling call for action against crimes committed by the Islamic State in Iraq at the United Nations, she stepped out in this dusty pink Bottega Veneta coat for a private dinner. Underneath she wore a brick motif velvet dress and a classic handbag by the same label. For a twist, she wore black stilettos contradicting the light hues.
Frequently spotted at date nights with her husband George, Amal manages to perfect her flirty looks. Last month in Italy, she was seen in a Stella McCartney green glittering lurex-finish floor length dress. She paired this sheer dress with hoop earrings and a magenta lipstick.
A fiery red lipstick isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it needs both the right shade and confidence. Though many of us never opt for such a bold lipstick, it’s routine for Amal. She is frequently seen moving around with a flawlessly painted discernible mouth. Amal Clooney joined her husband, George Clooney, at the 42nd César Awards wearing her signature red lips with a strapless flowing dress by Versace. The dress had a chic fitted bodice and layers of fluffy ombré feathers.
Travelling is all about comfort, and Amal knows how to combine comfort and sophistication in one go. A loose top by Alberta Ferretti embellished with the word “SUNDAY” and leather trousers seem to be her definition of comfortable clothes. Over this, she wore a notched tan fur collar olive coloured trench coat by Adam Lippes. She completed her carefree holiday look with stylish black floral ankle length boots by Stella McCartney and a luxe beret. Elegance is in her genes.
Mrs Clooney knows how to juggle fashion at dates, parties and work. The attorney is always been spotted wearing refined apparel when she has to attend meetings, seminars or court. She simply styles plain clothes to dress formally. Too much print, embroidery and sparkle can make one look unprofessional. Here, she wears sleek tailored dresses with streamlined silhouettes, and popping red colours, enriching simple colour palettes. Her clean cut beige colour coat makes her look polished and her floral slingback shoes and Altuzarra brown leather bag expand her sophistication at London’s Chatham House, where she addressed war crimes in Iraq and Syria.
Out in Paris, she wore a full sleeve vintage Chanel A-line silhouette frock. The leather trim added an edgy twist while the square motifs had a modish vibe on the flat collar and choker. She combined this look with maroon leather booties and tights to refine the look. Another day, Clooney turned heads in a vibrant yellow frock and matching coat that she styled with a textured black leather handbag and coordinating pumps, and over-sized sunnies. Such classic leather trims in both outfits seem to highlight the professional within you.
Polka dots by no means get out of fashion and every season designers are seen to subtly transform them. Amal catches up with this trend by wearing a forest green Monse cold shoulder blouse and skirt. She adds to it by styling a cream coloured purse and leather ankle boots that match the cream polka dots and ribbon accents. The look is finished with shades with a similar off-white frame lining.
Always seen by George’s side during his movie premieres, product launches and rep carpet events, Amal never fails to play the role of the perfect soul mate. On a special screening of Netflix series The White Helmet in London, she wore a mid sleeved floral Dolce and Gabbana dress. Her black patterned tights had similar floral embellishments that added class. The couple looked ideally dressed, with Amal’s colours and prints taking centre-stage over George’s clean black suit.
The new mother of twins Ella and Alexander Clooney shows her keen interest in fashion as she balances between classic suits and work dresses, flowing gowns at premiers, and appealingly daring everyday outfits. She stands out in her career as well as fashion choices. Draw inspiration from her confident and classy style, even if you’re not married to George (sadly).
